RE: Macrovulgaris on ebay/Mooie Exotics
Macrovulgaris is the same company Mooie Exotics, which was once associated with Boer Green. I can advise that their selection of Nepenthes has been and probably will remain the same for the next while. I would practice caution when dealing with them. Their negative reputation (from gardenweb, ebay, and dave’s garden) is well suited, which is unfortunate, but factual.
In BC (and probably Canada) the place for Nepenthes and other CP's is Hawaiianbotanicals. It is always a nice trip to HB; the set-up is lovely and there is always a healthy selection of plants. You might even get lucky and Jeanie will grow something odd and particular for you!

JAXON: I don't know about others, but my own experience with Macrovulgaris on ebay last summer was very positive... I purchased several neps from them back last summer, and the plants arrived promptly and in great shape. The quality and size of the plants was a pleasant surprise.
After the standard Nepenthes "pouting" phase (aka aclimitization), they are all happily pitchering for me now.
Was I just lucky... I don't know and I hope that my experience in dealing with them was more typical of what could be expected in dealing with them.

I can say either way... I have gotten a couple shiments from them... They haven't been to god at corrospondants... but the plants arrive and are alive and typically grow well for me (if they don't it's because i don't provide excellent conditions)... So it's not the plants i have concers about its customer service. Sib

I really like what I got from www.keehnscarnivores.com. I ordered one (three year old) B52 and one (three year old) Denate. The Denate has taller stems and smaller traps than the B52 but both have good root development beneath healthy corms. The B52 is extremely large and exceptionally hardy. They arrived after about a week of the order was made and were shipped bare root with a bit of peat wrapped around them. Each plant has about half a dozen traps and all are in showroom condition. These bare root plants arrived within a small plastic baggy that was nicely protected within a small outer cardboard container. I potted them in fresh New Zealand Sphagnum with some fine chopped (Fir) Orchid bark and a bit of old sphagnum peat taken from an old planter that had been drenched outside all winter from rainwater. The planter contained only peat and orchid mix (from last year) but I wanted it really free from additives. For this reason, I left it out in the rain all wainter long. I also collect other rainwater in rubbermaid tubs and put the lid on to protect it from algae in dry weather.

I will never buy on Ebay again! Now that such high quality can finally be obtained in Canada, I have no need to be scammed any longer. I kid you not that I ordered over a dozen times from the US and not one seed I recieved ever germinated. It wasnt until last winter that I discovered the website for Hawiian Botanicals. I still havent paid them a visit but many of the local nurseries stock CP from their Richmond location in BC. Since it costs more to drive my pickup to Richmond than it does to send through the Post Office, I decided to give Keehns a try.The (one week) amount of time it took to ship from Keehns (Vernon BC) is about the same as it is from Hawiian Botanicals in Richmond.

That good news and sad news at the same time, I know many people on this forum were very dedicated customers, I hope the next people will live up to it.
I do feel a little silly asking this as I thought I knew most people here but has anyone associated with this new nursery ever posted here?

I do feel a little silly asking this as I thought I knew most people here but has anyone associated with this new nursery ever posted here? Not a silly question at all Justin. The truth will come out eventually. According to the current website, it looks like 'new nursery' is being run by Jessy C. and a new partner that Jessy brought into the fold last year. You might recall Jessy from this thread on our blacklisted member's forum. ocps.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=tradingpost&action=display&thread=238Not saying that he isn't trying to better his business dealings, but it's good practice to be ever-vigilant. dvg

Ah Yes I knew I had read the name before, I've never dealt with him but I do agree one needs to be vigilant against bad nurseries and traders.
I would hope that this time around things have improved.

Heeeeeee's back! I personally wouldn't buy from him until he owns up to past misdeeds, apologizes publicly and personally and makes restitution. If he doesn't, I feel I would be insulting those who were hurt in the past.
"I quickly stumbled upon many new “strange” plants" can have many connotations. Hmmmmm.
