Hey Guys! Well Rug on this forum told me that there were some Sarr. Purpurea's for sale at Canadian Tire from www.epicplants.com ... He then gave me a link to the site and you can search what plants have been shipped where, so I did a search on all there CP's and found some Sarr. Purpurea's around 45 mins from my place! My mom bought me one today and its really nice and healthy! They also have S."Danna's Delight", S."Judith's Hindle", S."Scarlette's Belle", S.Leucophylla"Tarnok", Dionaea Muscipula, and Dionaea Muscipula "Akai Ryu"... Cya

Daniello:
If you keep an eye out here in the "Trading Post" forum, you will find many opportunities to increase your collection, often with many species that are not available from Canadian Tire, Home Depot, etc.
Check out the grow lists here as well, make up a wish list and post it.
In my own case, I didn't have alot to trade, but was willing to pay a fair price for the plants. I also found that many of the members here are very generous and will often just give plants/seeds away. Now, I'm finally getting to the point where I will soon be able to give back to this wonderful community!
The benefit from getting plants from members are that you are obtaining healthy material from people who have had success in growing them... and who are always ready and willing to give you advice if you are unsure of something.
Often, the instructions that come with the Home Depot specials will kill them. I remember when VFT at the local store used to come in tiny pot, 2" deep and say that you'd never have to transplant them ever... when the best thing would be to get them out of that pot and into something much deeper, as their roots are straight and LONG!
Remember too, that your location is not a problem... I'm in Ontario and have gotten stuff from BC and Quebec, and the plants have always arrived perfectly intact.
Also, there are several nurseries mentioned here that are very good... check out their web sites and don't be afraid to order from them as well.

I looked up and found a place in brampton where purps where sent. Initially I thought I should grab one...but meh! I have no room anymore....especially for sarrs. They grow too big. I guess I will wait and embark on the north american pitcher plants later in the future.

Hey! Purps stay fairly small and they don't get very tall... I would go for it! They aren't very hard either! Cya

I agree, purps are nice compact plants. I just stuck mine in a baggy in the fridge all winter. Now it looks fine even though most of the leaves were frozen to mush.

My one success in TC is the purp seeds I got from Insectivore and I just put them in for fun. They're going crazy and I'll have some nice seedlings to distribute towards the end of this season to any deserving CP'er.

I agree Vinc! I like it very much. There are more plants which I would like to get. But I am kind of a bit overwhelmed now as I have to water each and every pot seperately. Also I got school to worry about. Once my school is decided to be in the right direction, then I'll go wild. Bring on the carnivores.

Hey Guys! Vraev, you got your hole life ahead of you so get them when you're ready... Lloyd, Do the seedlings get much biger in TC or the same as if you would of planted them? I got quite a few of Purp seeds that germinated 7-8 months ago and there about an inch an inch and a hlaf in diameter... How big are yours? Cya

I think I started them in late March or so. They're not as big as yours. They're all crowded together in a baby-food jar so I have to separate them to see how big they are. The advantage is once they're in there you can completely ignore them. I've never done this before so I have no idea what to expect.

I'll send you some if they survive, you can send me pictures of yours. I have enough stuff to put into dormancy already. Hopefully my oreophila in TC will come through too.
