Here's an update of my little babies Gawd I just think they're so dang cute. I lost a couple dozen over the past few weeks due to an array of problems... ranging from a light source too close to the terrarium, to drownings and escapes. The worst was when one little guy was eaten slowly by the baby crickets... when the little red eye froglet got stuck on some dry paper. Here are some pics of these characters today: the red eye froglet in the middle is saying..." you lookin' at me, boy?" ;-)

Very cool.
Have you ever considered raising your own crickets? It takes a bit to get the method down, but once you do, it's fairly cheap and easy.

Thanks V and H , Yes, I will be trying to raise crickets this year. I had a whole bunch of baby pinhead crix hatch out on some dirt trays I left with the adults... but I didn't have any small frogs to feed them to at the time Here's a larger photo of the last pic:

I wish I can show a photo of this... the ones I've tried to shoot hadn't turned out...
When i check out these babies in the middle of the night, like around 3am... there's a bunch of baby frogs clamouring under the top of the metal mesh top! And approx half of them are hanging on for their dear lives using either their front two or back two legs. Sort of like a bunch of kids hanging off monkey bars!
No moment I switch on the light, they all start dropping to the bottom of the tank... plop plop plop ;D
Gawd... so much fun and so cute these little guys.

Do you have a camcorder that has night vision? You could capture a frame from that.
Question for you... how much room do you need for, say, a family of four RETFs?

Great suggestion RH! I'll try it with the night capture option on For a family of 4 adult RETFS, I'd give it nothing less than a 33 gallon tank stood up on it's end... or a large (>18x18x24"h) exo-terra tank. These characters love to climb and walk all night.

The exoterra is doable... I currently have two species of dart frogs (dendrobates tinctorius 'cobalt' and dendrobates leucomelas). The first species is actively producing eggs and I currently have 8 swimming tadpoles with another 6 eggs looking like they will make it to the swimming stage. For anyone local, I should have froglets for sale this summer. I love the look of the RETFs as does my wife... so we'll probably nab a group of four when $$$ become available (as if that will ever happen ). >>> Rick <<<

My baby redeyes are growing at different rates... some have quadrupled in size, whereas its siblings are still small little runts. and here's one of a tigerleg wondering what I'm up to:
