I think this week my first of a bunch of red eye tadpoles will be morphing out! Oooooh... so exciting! It's taken a lot longer than I had originally thought for the eggs to turn into froglets. I'm guessing it's due to the very cool temperatures my frog room has been experiencing, thus retarding the development of my tads. I can't wait to see my very first baby red eye tree frogs. (Yes ... I hear V and others shouting "we want photos!")... patience my friends D

Red eyed tree frog, eh. They truly are a very beautiful frog. Now that is a frog I could kiss. ;D Seriously, I can't believe the number of greeting cards, especially Christmas cards, that these exquisite critters are adorning, this year. And everytime I see them, I am still astounded at how ornate and painted they look. Unbelievable.

Amazing.
Now, do you have a few dozen fruit fly colonies going?
This forum really makes me miss my froggies.

Hal... We'll get you back to your froggies and with your CPs... you're gonna have your hands full hehehe. Thanks for the important note... yes, I've got about a dozen FF colonies going, plus a dozen bean weavil colonies, and in a week or so, a few rubbermaid tubs full of Turkistan cockroaches. This on top of my cricket farms (which I hope to phase out... what a friggen stink) and my red wigglers. Sometimes I wonder how the heck I ever got into this mess

Lol, Flytrap. And I thought I had it bad with raising feeders. Not anywhere close to what you got going on, dude. How big do the Turkistan cockroaches get? Are you going to continue to grow them in your new solarium. Reminds me, I was on a UK feeder site and they were selling Firebrats. I'm thinking, what are firebrats? Turns out they are another name for silverfish...some of these feeders are just a wee bit curious...and very close to crossing the line...the fumigator's line

I traded a bunch of baby RETFs for the Turkistan roaches. From what I gather off the websites, these roaches can't fly, and get to about an inch long. When my clutch of baby fire belly toads morphed out last year, the best food I found for them were aphids. Now... if only I can find aphids out in the snow at this time of year. I think I may be one of a few guys in town who can claim that he likes aphids and roaches ... well, at least my frogs love them!

Here is my first batch... all curious and hungry little guys. I threw in a few bean weavils the other day... and one of the baby frogs was so afraid of it that the little guy hopped away and hid... *gawd* ... so cute! a couple of weeks earlier: photos taken an hour ago:

Thanks all!
I've been busy trading these baby frogs for cockroaches, crickets, bean weevils, fruit flies etc... to keep feeding the growing family of frogs I have at home.
Thankfully most of my baby red eye treefrogs have been traded away, as I wouldn't know what to do with all the hungry mouths!
I will try breeding my white's dumpy treefrogs in a month or so. Next to my retf's, these frogs are my favourites... fat, chubby and very personable creatures.
