Actually - the pricelist I saw on www.keehnscarnivores.com isn't too bad ...considering if you were to order the same plants from outside Canada: CITES import and export permits, Import permits, Phytosanitary permits, shipping charges, customs and excise taxes, brokerage fees, GST and PST...and of course, then there is your time and the exchange rate. These other costs all add at least another 50% to 75% to the on-line price of the foreign suppliers when you finish the paperwork. Just when you thought filing a tax return was tough. :-)

I have e-mailed back and forth with him, he is a funny fellow and yes, the growlist and prices are real decent, I am planning on sending him some seeds to see if he can't get his inventory to widen up even further (and no, he already has D x tokaiensis)

I just heard that the old eBay supplier "Boer Green" is coming back as "Canada Exotics". I hope he stays around this time...because my experience with BG was always pleasant.

Well Sib...
With that sort of track record, I'd be leary of sending him any hard earned cash.
I guess I lucked out with my orders from him. Let's watch and see what happens. I've been following BG's trail of flame over at Dave's Garden website... and word is that his competition had tried to buy him out late last year when they heard his girlfriend and business partner left him. Oh! the saucy world of Nursery owners.

Apparently, we must be a member of the forums to have access to it... Anyway, it is a sad news if its true, one nursery in less...

Yes...one less Nep nursery...but there are always others ready to fill the gap. What I feel is more important are nursuries who are ethical and fulfill a niche market - driven by integrity, not dollar signs. So nurseries such as Wistuba, California Carnivores, Borneo Exotics and Exotica, have been around for a long time, and have happy customers. These CP suppliers appear to be in it for the long haul. Compare this to some of the more recent CP suppliers, who have left a trail of questionable practices. Here's a message according to one of the folks on the singapore green forum regarding "Malesiana Tropicals (MT)", who he claims were mislabeling their plants, and here's his quote: ebeyonder Joined: 21 Jan 2006 Posts: 654 Posted: Yesterday at 9:00 pm Post subject: Yes, can I just add that Malesiana probably sent me a mislabelled hirsuta which turned out to be a mirabilis...

I recently asked Hawaiian Botanical about the size of sarracenia's pitcher of their 3.5" pot ($13.75) . Here their answer: Hi Dom, Rather than trying to explain it in words, I thought I'd just attach a picture of the plants that you're interested in. Hope that answers your question. These plants are in 3.5"/4" pots. Thanks, Jeanie Sounds good to me!

That's a beautiful flava!
I plan to visit them in a month or so...if they permit me, I'll snap some photos of their greenhouse and post it here for all to see. I had a chat with Jack who works there, and he's a real helpful and nice guy too!
