Sticky: I measured my rainwater pH and it is around 6.1.
Vraev: I found some nice gritty sand at an aquarium store in downtown Toronto. It is dark. I washed it and it seems to be pretty clear of any minerals. I also heard that the paint division of NAPA called CMAX may have various grades of silica sand for sandblasting. There are NAPA stores all over the GTA.

Thanks Steve. By the way, is the silica sand from NAPA of various grades? I'm looking for a grain size of about 0.8 mm or so. The larger grains seem to make for an airier, better drained mix.

yeah...I found silica sand in an aquarium store but itwas really fine. They did not have other grades of sand. So It would be great to know if we can get a bigger grain size here.

Hey man, I'm not arguing or anything- I don't know anything about diatomaceous earth but that it is good against some pests, and I suspect that it is not too good for CPs since I imagine it has minerals in it. Silica sand is hands down the best thing to use for what we use it for. Nuff Said
