Hi Everyone! I have been looking for good water trays to expand my CP grow space. I am using the ferrero rocher clear boxes, which work great but are expensive (with the chocolate). So I am wondering if I could use those baking trays (aluminum foil ones) for containing water? Has anyone tried that before? Thanks in advance!

Don't use them! Go plastic, you can get cheap 1x2 trays for a buck at most garden centres. I just changed out some of those cheap trays for priemium ones from the hydro store and I'll never got back. They're two have a half times the price but totally worth it, black on the bottum, white on the inside, very thick and very durable. The corners also don't dent and make little holes. Not exactly the same but it made me think of this thread. ocps.proboards.com/thread/4337/home

Nooooooooo.......
Don't do that at home.
The water quickly eats little holes in the trays and they flood the floor. Been there, done that.
Also aluminum leaches into the water and is toxic to plants.

I'm so glad that I've asked! Thanks so much! I will try to look for plastic trays next weekend in Rona.

Try looking in walmart for the nice big plastic cleat storage boxes. They come in a variety of sizes and you can also use the lid when u go on vacations and stuff.

Yea, never go with aluminum! I took Justin's advise and bought the more expensive trays, they certainly worth the cost since they are quite durable You can get them from canadatire

well then, this is going to be interesting to say the least.
I am really thinking that i may have to leave them in there to finish germinating, and then re-pot after they are able to be fed.
hopefully the trays will last for the next 2 weeks to month.

Make sure there are plastic trays under the aluminum trays so they won't leak on the floor. Better to just carefully transfer the soil mix to a plastic tray.

I found some plastic take out trays with recycle code 5 (polypropylene), going to attempt the transfer today.
