...ilikewhatido.............The only reason that LFS tray is the way it is is because I just didn't have time to repot. I'm actually very afraid to touch it now because I know it will just be one huge tangled mess of roots and LFS! That's why I am waiting and will repot when the plants are dormant and hopefully cause as little root damage as possible.
...Lloyd.................not quite, haha, thanks for the compliment though!

Terrific work Gab. I'm sure you have some really interesting plants there, especially loving your "yellows".
Where did you get all the white pots? They look like they would be really good for Cephs.

...Thank You Guy. Yes, I've got some seedlings that are displaying very cool characteristics at a very young age. Remember, all of these will be just a year old in December/January. I'm very looking forward to next spring when they wake up and start to mature. Those are 32 oz styrofoam pots, biggest I could find. Top diameter is 4 1/2" and total height is 5 1/2". I get them at a local restaurant supply store, $7 for 20 I think. A much better deal than those expensive white Hydrofarm square pots. The VFT's seem to like them and I have several Cephs growing in them as well. In my limited experience I find it is best to use the largest pots possible. This results in a more stable media which is always a good thing.

...My Winter 2014 project has turned into my Winter 2016 project! I have started the arduous task of individually repotting all of the dormant seedlings in the 'Tub of Moss'. I am up to #13 and I barely touched the tub. Only the larger ones are visible, there's a ton more deeper under the moss.

Painstaking! I feel your pain, I used to deflask orchids be the thousands and after an 8 hour day it feels like you did nothing!

Hi Ama - You have demonstrated exactly why I will never, never start a plant business of any kind! I've had to flat out trays and trays of plants in my time, and it's not easy. It's fiddly, painstaking work. So I say this with full appreciation of the effort your are expending - I am impressed with your dedication! Because we've been discussing plant armies, I suspect your VFT legion is going to be the force to beat.

...hi Apo, honestly, if someone were to pay me, or if I could make a decent living repotting Flytraps or just growing and selling them in general I don't think I would mind. I really don't see it happening though. Just my own personal quest to grow the biggest trap ever and maybe officially register a couple of my own cultivars. Money was never my motivator. Having said that, I probably will be selling a few in the Spring...................just so I can buy more peat and sand, haha. I'm up to #83. Cheers.
PS - Really beautiful Dews by the way!

...Thank You DVG, we have not spoken yet. I will of course take that as a huge compliment coming from you. I am only about 2 years into the operation so a lot further behind than most of the experienced guys here. I still have a lot of work to do. Thanks again! AV.

Hi Ama - I suspect you are well on your way to that biggest flytrap! The folks who are doing it successfully are doing it all with crosses of known clones and plating seeds out on gels, which allows them to maintain mutants. Part of the key is breeding. Which like apple breeders, VFT breeders keep going back to the same gene pool. The other part is sheer numbers to allow for mutations to show up. I suspect some of them are applying mutagens to their media. It's tougher to apply the same sorts of mutagens outside of flasks (I asked H2O about a reference for one of the main components used, though I haven't gotten it from him yet - he's a very, very busy guy!). But, there are some other easier to use mutagens that might work better for someone working with seeds planted directly. PM me if you want me to expound on that topic. I think it's a great goal you have, and I know few as worthy of success in that goal. Good luck!

...done!, and it only took a week. I pulled 166 little seedlings out of there, difficult to do without breaking roots. Really hope they wake up in the Spring. Thanks for looking. NOTE TO MODS - Would one of you cool dudes please move this to the Dionaea section please. I think I should've put it there in the first place. Thank You.

...well, Gentlemen, it looks as if Spring has finally arrived!!! I am more than happy to say that I have started pulling all of my Flytraps out of my basement 'Green Room' dormancy area and into the greenhouse. Of course, the greenhouse is too small and I have to build something else to accommodate them all. For now, it's full and I have already noticed lots of new growth developing! Today, the entire 'X Batch' (166 seedlings), from the tub of moss went out. They're still calling for Spring weather for all of next week at least so they should be ok. Even if the temps do drop below zero, I know, from last fall, that Flytraps can survive. One of my seedling flowers went through a few days of below zero and still popped a few days later. Happy Spring and growing to all!!! Finally!
AV.
