Does anyone have any suggestion a to how to manage the thrips? Does a spray with soapy water work?

Neem oil! Use the Al Bickel recipe, repeat every 5 days for a minimum of 3 sprays. 4 is better.

I found that thrips don't do that well outside, mostly a problem indoors (to me).

I've always put seedlings that get thrips outside and the thrips go away. But will transitioning a Nepenthes from inside to out be too big a shock with these cooler temps?

You could always just take them out during the day if temps are > 12C or so.
