Hi guys, Ever had a storaway like this one?? I was eating and just watching seinfeld when something caught my notice moving on a wooden box which has my airplant in it....it was a small centipede....probably 1 inch or so. interesting specimen. COnsidering I always atleast once take out my airplants from the boxes, soak them in water and them put them back....I was risking a painful nip from the guy. I dont know where the hell he came from.....but for now....he will rIP in my B52. have you guys ever noticed random animals appearing in your CP collections or plants that you have bought? cheers, vraev

Once I used this weird package of milled peat and had huge earthworms going crazy in my VFT pot. Other than the occasional pillbug or wasp that's about it.

lol! wasp...now that would be annoying....lol! Earthworms shouldn't be too bad ?? .. I had a wasp bite me once....it just felt as if I had stepped on a red hot burning cinder. But I guess I got used to it considering I was previously bitten by honey bees in 3 other instances.
have u ever got a centipede lloyd? I am trying to wonder where it might have come from....obviously I would have noticed it earlier if it came with the airplant which I bought like 2 weeks ago. Unless it was in an egg form and just hatched or so.....hmmm!!!

I *thought* this thread was about the odd visitor to our OCPS website. Heck, I wonder how many of these looky-loos aka lurkers are drawn here. I hope some of these lurkers become regulars.

I have seen centipedes in my basement on the floor and in the bathtub plus of course in the garden. They are harmless but weird looking.

I thought all centipedes are venomous. However normally their bites are just a lot of pain to humans but generally not lethal.

I've never heard of our centipedes causing any problems except revulsion. I once saw one in Texas as thick as my forearm which had venomous hindlegs. Luckily it was in a jar, it was scary. I saw a few pillbugs in my U. laterifolia last night but they don't seem to be causing any problems.

That's bad. Those foreign bugs really sound like disasters.

I used to live in a house in Hamilton's east end with a swampy crawlspace. Giant mutant centipedes lived there and at night they would gather in the dark on the ceiling above where I slept. Maybe thats why I like plants that eat insects.

I once stayed in a "hotel" in the Amazon (not right in the river) where the cockroaches climbed the walls, lost their footing and fell on you. I used a sheet to keep them off my skin (and it was pretty hot and humid too).

same here. Back when I was backpacking through Asia I recall waking up in the middle of the night hearing clicking sounds. Only to switch on the light to see a dozen or so big cockroaches feeding on the bag of junk food I had left on the night table. :x Needless to say, I never got back to sleep
