This is an update on the plants from my Makin' pups.... thread. ocps.proboards.com/thread/5542/makin-pupsThis is how they look today, forming a ring of pings around the mother plant. Must say that they've done a fine job of propagating themselves. dvg

Nice plant, dvg. I usually split the plants when they start to divide. I have a Florian that's doing that so maybe I'll just leave it alone.

Love it! Will they continue to grow like that and make a larger ring over time?
Nice title too. :-P

Thanks for the comments, Love it! Will they continue to grow like that and make a larger ring over time? Nice title too. :-P Haha, almost sounds like a fungal growth pattern - say a fairy ring in a lawn or a ringworm spreading out on someone's arm. Truth is that these plants are constantly surprising me, so it's difficult to say what they're gonna do next. dvg

The cultivation of Boletus edulis aka the King Bolete is covered in Paul Stamets' books on mushroom cultivation.
Amanita virosa aka the Destroying Angel is a nasty one.
Mario Mushrooms aka Amanita muscaria are hallucinogenic and can be toxic as well.
Plus they remind me of this song....

...I have not read that book but it doesn't matter what is says in there, Boletus Edulis is IMPOSSIBLE to cultivate. There are way too many variables involved and no one on this planet has been able to figure them out. We can put a man on the moon, or into space at least but we don't know how to grow an Edulis. Amanita Virosa is just a deadly poison that will destroy your liver and cause you an agonizing a painful death, but the Mario Mushroom is all good, it's from the game, always pick it up. Thanks DVG for your post, CP's are fascinating and amazing, mushrooms are magic and cannot be figured out by the human brain (yet). Cheers, Gabriel.

Boletus Edulis. Does it grow in association with a particular tree?

Just wondering, where did you get the grit/gravel for your topdress?

Just wondering, where did you get the grit/gravel for your topdress? Hi Sokkos, All of my coarse sands and grits come from SIL Industrial Minerals in Edmonton. dvg
