Boletus Edulis. Does it grow in association with a particular tree? ...not just one particular tree, there's more, that's what makes it so confounding/confusing. Oaks, Birches, mostly deciduous, but I have found some growing among Pines! Also, moon phases affect Edulis growth, just like the tides out east. In comparison, growing CP's is easy because we know what conditions they require. As long as we provide for them the environment they need, they'll grow. Boletus Edulis is a total mystery!!! We think we know what they require but we don't. Anyways, they're one of the tastiest things on this planet. Nothing beats fresh Edulis in scrambled eggs in the morning, breakfast of champions (way better than steak and eggs) Happy Growing

I have to agree that the fungal kingdom is very fascinating indeed.
Maybe a future board in the CP Companions section - I know that they pop up from time to time in some of my CP pots.

...it is very doubtful that a prized mushroom, such as an Edulis would pop up unannounced in any CP pot! Check out a book called 'A Passion for Mushrooms', written by Antonio Carluccio. It is 'The Savage Garden' for any mushroom enthusiast. I personally have three copies, (don't like reading the same book twice, haha).
Happy Growing!
