I was wondering if anyone knows where to get huge wide mouth glass jars for terrariums. I need at least 9 inch diameter, 18 to 24 inch high

hmmm we get them rarely, when buying bulk pickles etc, in half-gallon+ jars, I might be able to steer you towards some if nobody else can help

Brian, you can try delis and restaurants, or buy the big Jar of pickles at WalMart. Also because I don't know your exact application, you might also be able to utilize a goldfish bowl or an apothecary jar, instead.

THis is called as a nano vivarium. It is basically DIY with plexi glass panels.

Not quite a CP app - when I got a bunch of CPs my supplier included a "bat plant" as a free extra. Its said to ward off evil spirits. The nice thing is it thrives in a terrarium in a north window with no auxiliary light so its really low maintenance. With an inch of gravel and a few inches of pot height the leaves are getting squished up against the lid (a giant Wal Mart cookie jar 9 D X 11 H). VWR sells big Kimax jars at like $800, no thanks! I haven't found big enough goldfish or apothecary jars yet. I'll check out the dimensions of WalMart pickle jars, or maybe I'll end up making my own DIY. Thanks for the suggestions guys!

Hi Brian,
Where did you get the Bat Plant? Canada?
Thanks!

Dan, in Canada. The plant is from China but was harvested to extinction for its medicinal and spiritual properties. The little white flowers look like bat faces.

Just one followup question.. If I did set up a full fledged terrarium under these conditions (no direct or supplementary light, northern exposure, poor ventilation) are there any easy CPs that would more or less do OK? There is a 12" X 12" X 18" high terrarium available at some pet stores but I'd want to add things to fill the space..

D.adelae would go fine in there, as would D.prolifera. some Utrics might be okay, it'd be worth a shot at least. (and I can help with most of that Brian, you know where I am and all, PM me if you want a bit o' material)
