It's been my experience not to put yellow jackets or bumble bees into my VFT's, at least not the ones in the house. These insects are too powerful for my indoor traps(unobstructed southfacing window) and invariably end up loosed on my unsuspecting and unimpressed, much panicked wife.

A big yellowjacket went into my leucophylla. It bit its way half way out and its head was sticking out. It was gruesome so I had to behead it and push the body back in. I also found that anything bigger than a juicy fly or ant isn't digested well.

yeah! in a case like htis...the trap rots and the bug dies as well. But in the end the VFT does win in a way as even a little bit of digestion gives it some nutriment. Literally the trap is unable to handle the capacity of the enzymes and the breakdown process and breaks down itself.
