Hello,
I have a brand new trap on my VFT and it has no red at all in the center! Could anyone tell me how to get the red back? Maybe I should give it some real sunlight? I dont know what to do! Sorry that there is no pictures because im in school right now. Please Help!

More light =more red. Do it slowly though just 1/2 hr to begin with then up the time.

Oh yes, "real" light is a BIG help in making your plants look proper- what kind of light do you have on it currently??

I have a 17watt flourescent light on it and also a 60watt reptile bulb on it.
Also, sdeering could you explain a little more about the 1/2hour thing? sorry

60 watt reptile bulb is unnecessary. I just use flouroscent lights. Get a philips 32 watt daylight flouroscent bulb. Put it in place of that reptile bulb. Trust me... it will give the traps colour. Atleast it does to mine.

Hey! You need more light! The half hour thing that stephen was saying is only give it a hlaf hour to start(The first few days) Then and hour... and so on.. Otherwise you could fry the plant(I did it with a sarracenia Psitacina(sp?) Cya

I've always found that the traps colour up more if the plant manages to catch a bug or two as well. The exception to this is the all-green form for obvious reasons.

It actually depends on the season, temperature, humidity and most importantly light. Also, traps tend to colour up more as they age. And yeah! the plants did start colouring up after I fed them.

where are you growing it?? try putting it in a north or west facing window with the lights on it.. that way on sunny days it'll get natural light, and on cloudy days it'll still get the light... I have my lights on a timer.... 7am-10:30pm... that way i dont have to worry about them too much.. *EQL*
