I don't want to risk my VFT's this year especially considering its my first time and all are growing inside. But I wouldn't mind some seed u can spare some

I would cut the flower off to avoid the reduction of the size of the traps, unless it's a worthwhile cultivars which you plan to breed with another... Or offer plain VFT seeds to others

I personally plan to let my VFT's do their thing...But only when they thrive outdoors. I'll try planting a few of my plants outdoors in pots....see how it goes. However, I guess indoor plants are too weak.

Ok sorry to anyone who wants seeds but I have removed the flower, hopefully next year if it looks healthier and is in suite with the seasons.

When Rick Hillier was here for the Orchid show we discussed flowering in Sarrs and VFTs and we are pretty much both determined to rip every indication of flowers off of our plants next year, while Sarr flowers can be nice (way more interesting than VFT flowers- the value of VFT flowers seems to be that most folks have never seen one, then when you DO see one the usual reaction is "meh") I think growing so many southern species outdoors as we do, the flowering seems to really set them back, the late onset and shortness of summer is hard enough on us year-round outdoor growers I would think, Brian's experiments in temperature might give us some insight into stuff like this... And good decision, Pem, I think you're best bet is to see if the thing doesn't smarten up, seasons wise

we'll see mabudon, I'm debating whether it goes into the fridge or not (I live in a dorm with no balcony and edmonton is too cold). I'll probably decide sometime this weekend, being that it just flowered I think I'll hold off until next winter.
