Greetings,
I am looking for locations from which I can obtain different forms of Dionaea. Currently I have sawtooth (about the only one I can find around here), typical and Red Dragon, all of which are in my bog garden and are doing okay, but I would like to expand upon them.
Does anyone know of one or more good sources of different forms of these plants. I have an order placed for ten different forms from Cook's Carnivores - I've had success with them in the past, but with this order, I haven't heard a peep from them for a week now in regard to it despite several emails inquiring the status. They have some nice looking stuff - it's be a shame to see what has been a good relationship die.
Thanks in advance,
>>> Rick <<<

I have a form labelled as 'Large Trap'. It doesn't seem to be officially described though. Carl Mazur could perhaps enlight you on it's 'past'... I can try to propagate one for you if you wish.

I have 7 venus fly traps already...and I am a noob at CP's . I have B-52, typical, dentate, red dragon, green dragon. The place where I bought them also has red rosetted or something like that. And the store is " Keehns Carnivores" www.keehnscarnivores.com" The owner Rick Keehns is a helpful and wonderful guy. The plants I got were in great condition....they are all living prertty well and growing well considering they are inside a terrarium with "maybe low light". The plants are all tissue cultured and the straight off tissue cultured plants can be grown without a dormancy now till next winter when you need to give them dormancy. This basically implies plants growing for more time. and more time to look and admire them. check it out. I used a faster shipping method and got my plants in 2 days. The reason I support the store is that I came to know rick personally via my transaction. We are good friends and I want to let potential customers know that you will not be disappointed.

Yes... Rick is a great guy. All the VFTs I got from him this year has grown nicely and are now nicely readying themselves for winter dormancy.

Tom...do u have a big mouth VFT? I really want to get one of those. especially one of the big mouths extra large size from a US website. However, its no point ordering it from there considering after coming through customs and soo on...the plant will become green goo . Rick is still cultivating some other VFT types. So presently he doesn't yet have big mouth.

Hi Tom,
If you do propogate something, I'd certainly appreciate it. I'll check out Keehn's site this week. I did finally hear from Cook's - they're just waiting on some piece of paper and we'll be a go. Here's what I ordered from them:
D. muscipula forms:
Clayton's Red Sunset Yellow Dutch Big Mouth Long Red Fingers Pink Venus Fang Big Vigorous Low Giant Typical
I also ordered a S. alata 'maroon throat' as well as D. capillaris, D. prolifera and D. schizandra.

If you ever want some D. prolifera, ask me in the spring. It's really easy to propagate, the slightest bit of leaf grows tons of little plants.
