Sorry if I am posting on the wrong spot but could anyone let me know where I can purchase a Mexican Pinguicula in Toronto (and other cool carnivorous plants)? Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks!

There is a wanted thread if you need to look for plants. Also, many person will be willing to sell or trade plants with you if you take the time to introduce yourself properly in the introduction thread. There is also a giveaway section where you will find interesting plants and seeds. I'm looking forward to see you introduce yourself in the introduction thread so I can greet you!!

Hello,
You can try members Hal or Lloyd for pings in Toronto but like Samskatch said, first, a quick message in the introduction thread would be sympathetic.

I can understand seeds can be imported but isn't there issues on plants being brought into Canada going to be a problem?

I can understand seeds can be imported but isn't there issues on plants being brought into Canada going to be a problem? Not a problem per say. You just need the necessary import document. Places out of country like those are best done by group order. (distributes shipping cost evenly, along with phyto, larger orders may be subject to discounts/freebies) Edit: Here is the necessary import permit (C5256), note that you can only have a permit for one country at a time. If you wish to change your permit, you can request it through them and I believe the fee to change is $15-25 whereas the cost of the initial permit is $35. Luckily, BCP and Carnivoria are both based in Czech. Wistuba is in Germany. www.inspection.gc.ca/about-the-cfia/forms-and-publications/forms-catalogue/eng/1328823628115/1328823702784#c5256As a side note, I would recommend requesting the permit to be emailed to you, so you get it faster. If you choose to email the application to the email indicated in the PDF, regulations state you must also mail a copy of the application to them as well. When I did mine, I filled all the information in Adobe, printed it off in order to sign it, and literally took pictures of the papers and emailed them. Then I mailed those papers to their office.

If you want it easier you can wait till you reach 10 messages and you will gain access to the sale section in the forum. You can buy your Pinguicula from a buyer in Canada that this will be a lot easier for your first Pinguicula.

Ah I see. Does the permit need the be renewed every year or it's a permanent thing. No other types of paper will be needed?

Permit is good for 3 years I believe. Make sure when submitting application for permit to add absolutely everything from Sarracenia to utricularia to Drosera, etc.
No additional paperwork necessary unless you want to import CITES I protected species I think? N. khasiana for example.
