I just received these Sarracenia from the Carnivorous Plant Store, Salt Spring Island, BC. Their packing was excellent! I've potted them in a mix of peat and perlite, with some of the long-fiber sphagnum they came with. They're now sitting comfortably on our south-facing deck! From the top middle: (top) S. oreophila var ornata 'Sand Mountain' (right) S. minor x rubra (left) S. minor (front) S. 'Scarlet Belle' Great Dane head for scale.

The S. oreophila is about 18" to 20" tall or so? The S. minor is bigger than I thought it would be too!

I'm loving your Oreophila! I think I'm going to have to buy some now to add to my bog

Your great dane looks exactly like my old maurice. I have some huge oreos for sale and others. Need to make space in my yard. If anyone interested.

Are they in distilled water or you added something in it?

Samskwatch They're sitting in rain water! The glass containers fill as it rains, and I top it up every so often with water I collect in my rain barrel. The brown colour has come from algae which have grown in the container as well as some of the humic acids that slowly naturally leach out of the peat mix.

And as a quick end-of-summer update, most of these plants have recovered from being shipped and have put up some beautiful pitchers. Sarracenia 'Scarlet Belle' has produced probably 5 new dainty pitchers. My favourite may be these new Sarracenia x rehderi (aka S. minor x rubra) pitchers! I love the long lids and red mouths.
