I’ve been trying to get d rotundifolia established in my mini bog for a long time so I thought I’d post how it finally happened. Last spring Purpman kindly gave me an envelope of seeds but warned me they were probably past their “best before” date. I wetted peat moss, mixed it with silica sand, spread it in plastic trays (kind of like muffin batter) and seeded and watered it. I left it for a day for imbibation (not sure if that was long enough) and popped it in the freezer for three weeks (ditto). Then I put the flats on heated grow trays with plastic domes over them and waited. WARNING: If you see lots of condensation on the dome that could be because it is cooler than the flat, and the medium could actually be dry as a brick. After finding this out the hard way I tried more watering. When nothing appeared by the fall I tried a B plan. I dumped out the flats, crumbled up the media, took it up North and spread it around my plants in the bog. Sure enough after a proper Canadian winter, I now have seedling sundews coming up.

Ahhh, the old "just say screw it and toss the whole mess in there to fend for itself" trick Seems to work more often than not- glad you FINALLY got yer colony established- it is ridiculous to think that you had S.flava growin up there but couldn't get actual native plants to take hold for so long, but we all know how that sort of thing goes. (PS good to "see" you posting again manm it's been a while eh?)

Wait till I buy the Pentax K10D. I know Canon has a lot more stuff but I have a huge stash of Pentax lenses from my old K1000 plus my late sister's Pentax stuff. Its either the K10D, a new tranny or my taxes.. hmm..

Of the local sundews, I've only been able to germinate D. intermedia.

Best shot I can get with my Fugi Finepix 2.1 MP: On the left one of my self seeded VFT babies in Hastings Highlands and on the right one of my D. Rotundifolia babies. Just got a Pentax 6 MP K100D but need to read the manual to start using it..
