Planning to move to an apartment pretty soon and the plants are coming with me. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with growing plants on a balcony of an apartment and had tips to share. I imagine that it could be windier and harder for the plants to catch bugs naturally this way, but would be interested to hear everyone's thoughts on this. Any pictures of example/recommended set-ups would be great!
This may end up turning into an indoor growing thread if people recommend simply growing indoors instead!
Thanks!

Hi atom - Can you cover it and insulate it to make it a little greenhouse? Just a thought.

Hi atom - Can you cover it and insulate it to make it a little greenhouse? Just a thought. The entire balcony? Possibly o: I didn't consider that at all. Any ideas on materials? I probably wouldn't do the ENTIRE balcony, but maybe a portion would be manageable lol

Hey there If you don't have a very big collection, you could always get a good quality grow tent
It works really well for me, I don't grow outside so

Yeah I don't really have a big collection at the moment. Maybe 20 pots of plants or so right now, but that may increase a bit as I separate seedlings. Would this grow tent be outside or inside?

What sort of plants are they? Sarracenia and VFT will do fine in mini bogs on a balcony if there is enough sun. No problem catching prey unless you are ultra high and pitchers can be supported with sticks if necessary, protection over winter shouldnt be too tricky. cheers steve

The grow tent is usually for indoor growing, there are many sizes you can choose, they can also hold up a good amount of plants
You can add shelves and grow lights, and heater...
