Since sowing my first VFT seeds (thanks, Lloyd!), I've had great success with germination and new plants are popping up every week. I've noticed two of the seedlings aren't quite like the others and I'm wondering if this may be indicative of unusual adult plants as well? I believe the seeds were all VFT "typical", but maybe Lloyd will chime in on a more detailed explanation of their origins
Firstly, apologies for the quality of the pics. I've been having a hell of a time figuring out how to do macro shots on my phone.
The first seedling isn't too interesting, but it has a split cotyledon. I doubt this will have any effect on the adult plant or have any bearing on what it will look like, but I thought it was neat at least.
The next seedling isn't very crazy either in my opinion, but still different from the rest. The cotyledons are crinkled or wavy. Again, I don't think it's much of a predictor in what the adult plant will look like, but the other seedlings seem to have skinnier, smoother cotyledons.
Finally, the last seedling I found interesting was a paler, white/yellow one. Unfortunately, it's the hardest to see, but definitely stood out from the rest. Is this indicative of a lighter form of VFT? You can sort of see the seed at the tip of the leaves. Even though it hasn't fully unfurled it still looks comparatively different from the other seedlings at a similar stage.
I figure they're probably nothing too unusual, but maybe it'll start a discussion about unusual seedlings and the resulting adult plants
