I just got this plant from Keehns Carnivores, and was wondering if it has to have a dormant period?

Yes, A novel I could write indeed.
No dormancy, as Sib says. Heck, the thing hardly needs anything, mine have lived through insane mistreatment a few times, mostly due to my having maybe a hundred of them when I first grew them from seeds- I still have maybe 30 of them left in various pots and places around the house.
The expression "Bomb Proof" is perfectly applicable to these guys, tho for best results, lots of light, not too cold and they should be happy- most of mine are on windowsills all year and don't mind it at all.
If you have any specific problems or questions about it, ask away!!
