Hi Folks,
You can imagine my great surprize when the above seed germinated and developed into the these seedlings:
Judging by the seed packet label, this may be a lucky mix of the regular red/white, giant psittacina form (S. psittacina var. okefenokeensis) and the anthocyanin-free variant (f. luteoviridis). However, the pessimist in me says probably not, since the giant form is generally found in Florida or Georgia, not as far west as Mississippi. Anyway, its interesting to note that the AF form can just pop up in a population of the typical red colored taxon. Can't wait for these babies to grow up!
