First off, I'm Jenn. I just recently purchased my first carnivorous plant from the grocery store. I thought it would be really neat for myself and my children. I've decided to join up to surround myself with knowledgeable individuals who can answer what I'm sure will be many questions in the months to follow.
I'm in a fairly rural area in northern manitoba. Are there many nurseries that ship online in Canada? Just in case we want to add to the collection next summer.
Where would be the best places to purchase soil/medium for repotting?
Those are my only two right now. I'll be looking through the threads as I'm sure these have all been answered already.
Thank you and take care!

Welcome! This is probably the best place you can get carnivore plants in Canada. Great community here, people are very nice! You can purchase peat moss at any gardening center, or places like Rona, Canadian Tires, Home depot; perlite should be sold at those places as well. Just watch out for medium that has fertilizer added.

...welcome to the CPSC...just remember......that Flytrap (?) you bought is a one way ticket, no going back now. Lots of knowledgeable people here! Cheers!

Haha. I know, I'm already looking at other options. I'll be in Winnipeg this coming weekend too, I'd like to check out some nurseries to see if anything is available.
I'll post a photo next week of the Moss that grows around here to see if it's usable at all.

Well everyone. I'm out for a bit my dog is a giant asshole. I put my vft out for some food and he got up on the shelf and snatched it. All I could find were the poor little traps all over. I'll be back as soon as I can.

Hey Dusky, sorry to hear about you mishap. I haven't tried this myself but I've read that you can propogate fly traps with leaf pullings. If you find any whole leaves left, you can try to regrow the plant.

I actually was there before the incident and there weren't any left. I'll try to hit up a few places this weekend in Winnipeg though. Thanks!
