Got three Wasabi starters for Christmas last year (2015) Been growing them indoors using LECA and drip hydroponics When they first arrived: currently: Hoping for a Christmas harvest

Amazing! Where did you get your plants from? I recall seeing Richters selling some but they weren't in very good shape when I visited their nursery so I skipped over them.

Thanks, they have been a fun experience... wasn't much info online about indoor cultivation so wasn't sure what I was doing would work. Fairly certain they came from Frog Eyes Wasabi in Oregon. link

Opps, sorry... just saw your question.
Yep, yep.... the real stuff is rarely (if ever) found in my area. What we get is mostly imitation made from horseradish and food coloring. Supposedly, the real stuff oxidizes and starts losing its flavor almost immediately after grinding.
I've never had real wasabi, looking forward to the experience :-)

What a beautiful plant, almost like small lotus leaves, next year maybe for me. I've seen the fresh root in an Asian store here and am going to give it a try
