I thought it would be a good idea to make a central thread for people to list where plants and supplies can be purchased. Just to be official we can add a disclaimer that this is merely a listing of places where people have seen materials for sale and not an endorsement for any of the entities listed here. We can add to the list as time goes on. To make things easier to read and organize later on, I propose adding entries in this format:
Province - City - Business - brief description [date]
For example:
ON - Toronto - Supermarket X on Yonge St - flytraps in 2.25" pots [2016 May]
Plants
Dionaea (Venus flytrap)
Drosera (Sundew)
Nepenthes
Sarracenia
Pinguicula (Butterwort)
Parasitic Plants
Supplies
Substrate
Containers
Lighting/Indoor growing setup
Propagation

Would mass market retailers need specific cities? Seen vfts in Walmart, Canadian tire, Lowes, Homedepot almost everywhere
ON - Hamilton - Tropical Expressions on 22 E 25th St - they're a bonsai supplier but occasionally have VFTs, Pings, N. ventrata, N. Miranda (Fairly pricey) last seen [Feb. 2016]

I'd love to see the supplies section filled out. I'm new to cps and I've been having a hard time finding small square containers and media. Hell I went to 6 or 7 different stores to find some perlite. I'd love to also get my hands on some silica sand but that's so far proven impossible.

In my area I can get perlite at most walmart Canadian tire and home hardware stores. Not sure on the sand tho I haven't had any luck finding that in my area.

The Canadian tires here only have miracle grow perlite and all the other hardware stores have been "temporarily" out of stock for weeks :/ I did finally find some at a small local nursery, but it took way more effort than it should have.

I learned from Lowes that they have stopped carrying pro-mix perlite. I have found some at Rona (despite that they have merged) and Home Hardware.

Hydroponics shops are goldmines for a lot of the materials CP growers need, including bulk peat, vermiculite and perlite, as well as trays/domes.

It is used for filtering. I get mine from the source here in Hamilton (Bell and Mackenzie), they supply all of Canada. Hamilton, Ontario - Silica Sand - Bell and Mackenzie, end of Sherman Ave near the docks. Security has to let you in. Through the gate, make a left. - Various styrofoam cups and containers - I use these instead of the usual black pots. White styrofoam 32 oz pots seem to be working for me outdoors. - Wholesale Club - Barton and Nash, no membership required. Happy Growing, AV.

This is where I get my T5s and quadruple thick trays. They have all kinds of good stuff. Also picked up some reflective sheeting recently. www.canadiangardensupply.com/
