You don't need to induce dormancy, but I wonder if ithe plant does, in some small way, benefit from the vacation. Perhaps greater vigour /growth rate in following season, higher viability of pollen, or number of flowers, etc.
Might be worth investigating?!?

I am going to try to induce dormancy for some plants next winter and see what's the difference. Willy
