Greetings goodpeople, Due to a rather recent and unexpected offer we couldn‘t refuse we will be relocating abroad for three or four years. As rules currently stand, bringing life plants along is not an option, so I am left to wonder what to do with my just recently started group of carnivorous friends. And this is what I came up with: Could anyone in and around the Ottawa, Montreal or Toronto area (more details below) consider to adopt, or even foster, my CPs? If you could in principle, please read on:
I have got six kinds of Ping, one Drosera, one Sarracenia and one Nepenthes, all established and healthy.
Since I will be back and want to get back in the CP-fray, my favourite scenario would be either: 1. Someone cares for them, can cross-pollinate and trade in any offspring from them, and when I get back, I pick them up. 2. Someone cares for them, treats them as their own, and when I come back I pick up a descendant from each. Of course I am aware that three to four years is a long time, and many things can happen, so if one of them croaks, there will be no negative consequences from my side whatsoever. I can make it all the way to Montreal and will even be in Toronto in June, so that is how wide I cast the net for potentially interested folks. Should one want to ask for any more details, I’ll supply them gladly. Should nobody be able or willing to take them on a foster basis I would ask for someone to adopt them. That would not be a sale, but a give-away, as long as they get a loving new home. And why? Because I darn luv’em! And this is in fact the hardest part about this whole move, by far.
Cheers, Oliver

I would love to offer as I am in Ottawa, but I am pretty new and wouldn't want to potentially harm your plants with my novice experience. Certainly if you are stuck I would hopefully be marginally better than a green bin! Hope the plants find a good caregiver.

My suggestion would be to give them to people here and, when you come back, post a request for plants and you are sure to get many offers. Remind everyone of what you gave out previously. We're a generous group and on the whole we reward enthusiasm and have good memories. This offer is void in Newfoundland.

Rubisco, I will gladly give my plants into your care. Don't worry about rookiness, I'm still very inexperienced myself. Let's PM and talk about details.

I'd be interested in taking in the Drosera, only issue is I'm in the Niagara region and I wouldn't be able to get to the GTA to pick it up. Would shipping be an option? I'd pay for the shipping via paypal Do you know what species it is and do you have pics? I'd take the Nepenthes but I'm full up with 3 young Neps which will eventually grow up and need a large enclosure type thing

hal, are Newfoundlanders not generous and rewarding and blessed with good memories? No, I'm guessing it's just because it's so darn cold here

Hi, Clockworkpeacock. I am in touch with rubisco about the plants. As he is in Ottawa like me, it is very much the best possible outcome. I appreciate your offer!

If you want someone to start some backup pings from cuttings, i'm in toronto no experience with the other plants, though i'd still give it a try.

Very much appreciated, aquaponic, but regrettably the request is almost exactly one year old.
