My Grandma has been frustrated for years because her Christmas cactus will never flower at Christmas. It turns out she actually has a thanksgiving cactus. I also bought a Christmas cactus this year and it turns out that is also a thanksgiving cactus!

Unfortunately they don't really sell them anymore. Since people are thinking about Christmas earlier than they would flower many of the main places you would buy these plants now sell the Thanksgiving variety because they are in bloom when people want to buy them.
Keep looking! I'm sure that someone must have one. Or when in doubt ask a plant conservatory they are usually more than willing to give a little piece of easily propagatable plants.
Good luck!

I just bought one and it has rounded edges on it's segments! It's blooming right now so I don't think I'll be letting it bloom for Christmas this year because I'm concerned it won't be strong enough. It has lovely white flowers, I can post a pic of the whole thing, it's still young but I think I should be able to take cuttings

I hadn't thought of that.

I bought it at Vermeers Garden Center in Welland, I think it was the last white one but they had a few hot pink and red ones left

I have a Xmas cactus and a zygote cactus. The one Xmas cacti is 50+ years old. Someone gave it to me as the next generation. Lol it flowers around Xmas. (this year it didn't because I left it out through snow...) it's ok now. She said it will get the odd flower in spring. The Xmas cactus I have flowers at Xmas fully and in spring/may it gets 1-3 flowers. I can spare a rooted cutting off the big plant. I'll send in an envelope but you will have to pay shipping. Thanks
