I've made these - they're not terrible! I used a couple of N. x ventrata pitchers stuffed with a mix of sticky rice, coconut milk, and sugar and salt. Then I steamed them for about 20 minutes in one of those vegetable steamers. The hardest part is getting them to stand up in the steamer if you don't have enough to fill them. I ended up using aluminum foil to brace them. The pitchers themselves have kinda a flowery/rosewater taste. They don't really add much, but they have a nice crunch when you bite into the pitcher, a bit like a springroll. Here's a pic of the pitchers after being cooked: Once my crop of N. x ventrata regrows I'm planning on trying again with some different mixes. Apparently they're used for more than just the sticky rice mix, and I'd like to experiment with something a bit more savoury.

Nice one Peatmoss ! I have a bunch of talengensis x maxima x lady pauline growing at the moment, I may have to sacrifice a few after seeing yours.... My traps could proabably fit a half cup of packed filling... I just cut one of the vines to root for someone else, but later in the summer when it has recovered...
Inspiring!

Awesome Gabriel, that would be the perfect appetizer for a CP get-together! If you have enough pitchers, you could probably fill a jalapeno roasting rack with them to keep them upright for steaming.

Kinda getting off top in the off topics haha, but just curious. Is it fairly easy to do cuttings on a Nepenthes as far as cuttings go?
