I have a N. Ventricosa, Its in a 3" plastic square pot in lfs. Bought from Hawaiian Botanicals mid-summer. The stalk is about 4" tall. It has a 1 1/2" pitcher on it that I had to pop the lid open. The top 4 leaves have little pitcher formations. Bottom leaves had the pitchers fade away. In the past month it has shot out 2 pups who now have a 1" pitcher each snuggled in sphagnum. Indirect light, moist but not wet. But the stalk of the mother plant at the base had started turning brown and now it looks like a dried twig. Its about 3/8" long. Is this normal or am I dong something wrong now? Should I cut off the mother plant (where?), pull some bottom leaves off and plant in lfs? Thanks

The lower stalks do turn woody. As long as the leaves are healthy and the top stem is green, there's no problem.
