I received some Nepenthes Ventrata X Sibuyanenisis a while ago from Bradt and am wondering if anyone else that received some has been able to germinate any yet. I also have well over 100 Nepenthes seeds from BCP and CZ that I planted mid August that have done nothing as well. I think there is a problem with my methods since the dionea, assorted utricularia and various drosera I planted at the same time have germinated and are growing well. The only other seeds that have not sprouted for me are the pings, the darlingtonia, and the genlisea. They are in a seed tray/dome with the standard peat/perlite/sand mix topped with long fibre sphagnum (seeds scattered on top of the moss). Lighting is a 2 bulb t8 fixture for 12 hours a day. R/O water. Daytime temps a max of 23C and a low of 18C at night.
I could understand if the majority of the seeds never sprouted since they came from across the pond and no guarantees on when they were harvested but to have many seeds and some very fresh (Brad's) and nothing sprouting make me believe that I am doing something wrong. I have looked on many sites and I seem to be doing thins correctly, only thing I can see is that maybe my temps are too low.

I have low temps to, 13-16c at night. The ones I sowed haven't germinated yet either but I'm am checking every few days now. I would think it would be any time. They haven't gone mouldy, so that is a good sign they are viable anyways. Curious as well if anyone has had luck?

I put Nep seeds in LFS, keep them moist, warm, bright. Fresh ones seem to germinate ~ 25% after a month or so.

No germination here as well, but as brad said, there has been no mould so I don't think they are unviable yet. Usually I get a lot of slime algae or mould growth on the seeds that don't germination.

I've had nep seeds since January. The one thing I noticed before they germinated was the green showing through the husk before they broke open. At first it was just one then more and more were showing green, now I have many seedlings. I also removed any mouldy seeds right away to keep them from contaminating potential viable seeds. This is my first attempt at nep seed. So it's a learning experience for me. I had two pods of seed, one pod did nothing

germination of nep is not so hard as long as you have fresh viable seed, using milled sphag moss and fine perlite in food containers under grow lights at 20to 24 c works well, the trick is to have fresh viable seed, , High land nep seed only stay's viable for approx 5 months after that there viability decreases dramatically, after 6 month its worse 7 months your done pretty much , low land neps seed is worse with shorter life viability again .normally only 3 to4 months max Know your supplier, know the ages of the seed remembering it takes at least 1 month to germinate on average from sowing , and who's been pollinating them , pollination of nep seed is a art and getting viable seed is not so easy most really don't know how to do it i believe as receiving seed germination extremely low or nill many times from other growers , usually from lack of pollination skills my own seed usually is viable but not 100% as i said its not easy to do !. but i do have many own hybrids and specie seedling from my own pollination's of nep flowers ,if you want more info or photos let me know see if i can help
