For the tuberous dew folks and curious out there I had the good fortune of growng the regular form of D. gigantea ssp. gigantea and even the rare ssp. geniculata in past years. (Mind you short-lived good fortune as my plants didn't survive for more than 2 years.) I was tempted to try again when I saw that this red form was available. I have them by the SW window in peat sand. Still too early to report long term success but so far so good! Thanks for looking. cpgeek

Hi CPGeek - That's awesome! I'd love to know where you came across these, if you wanted to PM me. I wish you all the luck in the world with these. D. gigantea tip; once you are having success with them, if you tip them over you can get them to grow roots off the shoot, and get extra tubers. For some of the upright species it can be a great way to multiply them. Please do keep us posted on how it all works out. Thanks for sharing!

Wow, thanks for the information Apoplast.
I've also grow the red form of D. gigantea this year. I bought my tubers from Dieter.
Of the 3 tubers, two raised.
CPGeek, what tuber size did you get ?
I bought the 2-3 mm ones. Mine did not grow as much as your but I didn't feed them much. They are now 5 cm high.

Hi Shogg - Ah, Dieter. We've corresponded, but I've not bought from him. Perhaps I should. Thanks for the information!

Thanks everyone for your comments. It was closing time at Starbucks when I made the post so I didn't get a chance to properly complete it. Hi Apoplast, thx for the propagation tip. Two months ago, the fragile young stem on a plant got entangled & had snapped fom its tuber underground. I planted the severed stem back in the pot. For the 1st month, it did nothing but now I see new growth & the lamina are dewy. I haven't checked the original tuber but this may be another way to propagate assuming if it's still alive. I got my tubers from Dieter as well. I highly recommend buying tubers and seed from him - he is generous in what he provides & passionate about cp. He recently harvested some fresh seed & will be publishing soon his updated tuber sales list for 2015. Check out his offerings here: www.tuberous-drosera.net/sales.htmHi Shoggoths, I think my tubers were also 2-3 mm. Keep feeding them regularly (I used weak strength Miracid) & they should get bigger. Sometimes tubers skip a season for reasons unknown to me & emerge the following season, so your 3rd tuber may still be ok. Good growing! cpgeek
