Hey Dennis, I would wait to ask in the summer, as gemmae can freeze solid and die in winter temperatures. I think it was Devon who tried to send me some a few years ago and they did not make it even though the temperatures were only slightly below freezing.

I've had very good luck with sending & getting gemmae in December when it was pretty cold out. Of course NF is colder than Toronto. But it couldn't hurt to try gemmae in the winter. I think the moist packaging has some thermal protective effects.

I had good success with gemmae from this vendor and they ship to Canada.

The prices are listed on the site and you don't need papers. I think it's $4-8 per portion of gemmae, depending on the species.

FYI, that is a subtropical Drosera, can't survive a hard freeze.

No, that's right. Natalensis are not a "temperate" sundew. Some of the BC folk have success with capensis and binata outside but I don't think anything but the hardy Canadian species will live through a NFLD winter. Not sure VFTs will, either. Best to put them in the fridge - beside the cat food.

The best ones are the ones that are native to NF.

Some of the BC folk have success with...binata outside... I can confirm this, I have had some binatas survive some winters outside. I've lost more though. I am willing to experiment with a capensis. May need a few to make the study statistically valid.
