kept it wet bordering on soggy
There is where you and I went wrong ( me before I learned how to) too much water at once causes root rot leading to a dead plant!! my guess is why the VFT's died the soil should be just moist on the surface you could put the pot in a plastic or glazed tray and keep about 3 cm in it let it get absorbed, let it dry then water again once a week should be fine. They like dry conditions and this ensures your not watering too much or too often Its tempting to water once the tray dries(even for me now!) but resist the urge and stick to the watering schedule

I hope I do better and you will get better I killed VFT seed and plants but the key is to keep trying I had seeds come in the mail I sowed them Saturday after getting them Friday Lloyd is considered one of the best growers, I see about 4 seeds from the 20 I sowed and threw the question at Lloyd if he thought like me and some seeds sank and are starting to make roots he said it was possible 3 days and having the possibility of roots already with luck means they will be a good size and healthy BTW I sowed the giant variety of VFT Dennis are you sure those VFT roots are of a good size and healthy? Of course, there is one way to find out, though it may require a little digging on your part. dvg

Of course, there is one way to find out, though it may require a little digging on your part. I was offering insight as to why his VFT keeps dying I know better than to think seed sown Saturday would be strong enough to be transplanted I simply asked someone that because I sowed about 20 and can see only 4 was it possible they sunk below the surface and was starting to grow roots? this person said it was possible but never gave me definite yes or no on they topic Mine are still seeds and unless they are mutant seed there is no way they are germinating I was just looking for a possible explanation a to why I cannot see more than 4 seeds.

Let me know if you find those 16 missing VFT seeds. I've often wondered where VFT seeds go to die, and i'm pretty sure i know now... ...but i still value a second opinion. dvg

It's the same place that odd socks disappear to from the washing machine. That's what I was thinking...I wonder if the orphaned socks ever meet up with the missing VFT seeds... ...in some kind of quantum cloud of uncertainty... ... *more pondering*... dvg

Kinda hard to see what species it is yet(funny though no leaves came up! Amazon, where I bought them(25) said they were giant VFT but never said the type

VFT's grow from basal rosettes, you wouldn't say they have stems. It sounds more like a grass seedling.
