Last year I buried sarr seeds under a few feet of snow in March. I put the pots in a close plastic shoes box. Snow being a good insulation, I assume the temperature would stay near 0-4C in the shoes box. My goal was to give them 6 weeks of cold temperature before all the snow melt and temperature rise in April. It works very well. So, if you don't expect freezing cold temperature, you should be alright. Just be sure to give enough humidity to your seeds and protect your pots from flood.

I'd recommend hardening them off by taking the seedlings out in the day and bringing them in at night for a few weeks. What species?

Temps there used to right now is kind of cool there in a spare room up stairs. They kind of paused for the winter since i didnt supplement lighting. They r just now shooting up growth twice the size as that they had.
