Ya, they're supposed to. This one is about the size of a golf ball so we'll see how it's doing this time next year. Gave it new water and a cleaning last night, it's floating again :-)

Marimo mossballs are great, they absorb ammonia/and nitrates. Make sure it's real Marimo moss though, some stores sell balls of Java moss as Marimo Moss balls.

Good point. I bought it from a hobbyist on GTA Aquaria forum so reckon it is real and it'll float or sink. I'm new to these but it doesn't seem to be anything like java moss.
