Another good soil mix i use (Please note; im NOT a darlingtonia jedi) is the same i use for my helis; 50/25/25 peat/perlite/oak bark chunks. Works well i think

My Dar Seedlings grow in pure peat. I wouldn't recommend it though. I would recommend 70-75:30-35 LFS:Perlite.

G'day. If it's a choice between waiting for live sphag to pot the plants or using one of the recommended mixes I would go with the recommended mix above. IMHO, it helps but light, humidity and watering are much more important given a decent base mix. If there's enough of all three, moss will start growing in the pot in about a month. If one is missing, the moss may survive but it won't grow (probably same for the plant). If my experience is any indicator, the moss will probably die until you optimize three parameters for your conditions. Here is the link that helped me: 1) for general media issues: www.terraforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/110-Carnivorous-Plant-Articles2) for growing live sphag specifically: www.terraforums.com/forums/showthread.php/114259-On-Growing-Live-Sphagnum-Moss-by-BigBellaThere's another article (pretty sure it is here, in one of our OCPS forums) where the author recommends chopping LFS and sprinkling on peat - I've found this is more successful all other things being equal. Hope this helps.
