I took a drive to Markham today to visit Kim's Nature, a little garden centre at the corner of Major Mackenzie and Markham Road. They have a bit of everything. Bonsai seems to be their focus but they also have perennials, a few orchids, tillandsias, African cichlids, budgies and canaries, pots and media. Their website says they have "African Dart Frogs" and there's a photo of a few D. tinctorius "azureus" but I didn't see any there. If you need some oil from the endangered Neems they've got it. As well as a few nasty pesticides that aren't supposed to be on the shelf. They also have a good selection of orchid and bonsai media including big bags of Akadama, and smaller bags of sphagnum and bark chips. And some nice Japanese bonsai pots. Just a few CPs as pictured below. I think these are Heliamphora "Maiden's Delight" on the left, and Nepenthes plasticus on the right. They look like they're quite easy species. I also stopped at Sheridan on Highway 7 in Unionville Those large N. alata are $35 and they have the smaller Colasantis Nep NOID and VFTs and a pile of Mimosa pudica. I got some of the Lithops which are merchandised beside the CPs. The cashier told me a customer that morning had asked if the Lithops were carnivorous. I told her that they are, but they eat really slowly.

Thanks for the update Hal! Those neps in the basket looked like "ventrata" to me when I was there. How do you tell the difference from Alata and ventrata? Both species look very similar.
Carnivorous lithops eh? Lol, that would be pretty cool.

Kim's is literally a block north of my parents' place where I'm staying for the weekend. I'm going to see if I have time to stop by later this afternoon.

I wish I was on that shopping trip with you. We could have spurred the economy together.
