Do the people that buy the big cube of compessed sunshine peat rinse it :?... I was using a dif brand and bought it in 4 l or something bags for 6 bucks . never rinsed it and everything is fine . Just bought sunshine peat from walmart for 9 ..a massive bale. Was wondering if u guys rinse it and squeeze it out before use cuz that would be a pain . Has anyone ran into issues using it?

I use it as it comes out of the cube, just sifting out the bigger pieces of debris.

I assume that you would be attempting to rinse out algae and foreign particulate Paul? Pfffft good luck, that stuff is going to be there no matter what you do. With all that time, mess, effort I can't see there being a big enough difference in final product to matter buds...

I never rise peat of any brand and if things live in the soil consider yourself lucky they might eat dead debris in the bale and then serve as food for CPs especially young ones

No, it rinses all the sunshine out of it.
I've never rinsed peat. I can't imagine how you would rinse it without ending up with 1/4 of a bag of peat and a lot of brown water. I just slit the bag, pour in a few watering cans full of rainwater and wait a few days until it's wet through and no longer hydrophobic.

There shouldn't been any salts to speak of as the peat comes from bogs.
