Good day all - I finally have an hour, all to myself! So, I thought I'd share some of the non-CP plants I am growing that I'm a little proud to have kept going during all of the hecticness I've got going on right now. The fist is some really nice looking new growth on my Star Anise plant, Illicium anisatum var. verum (I have very good reasons for considering verum and anisatum to be the same species which I am happy to go into if there is interest - but in short, this is supposed to be the culinary strain). The next plant is one of the several species Impatiens I grow. This one is a pretty large species which can get over a meter tall, and comes from the plant lover's dreamland, Madagascar. This is a flower from my I. bicaudata. The last is a pot full of bromeliad seedlings. These are one of the three species of Pitcairnia I have starting right now. They are small, but I am hoping to move them along fairly quickly. I hope you found some of these to be interesting. Thanks for looking!

Nice looking plants. Will the Star Anise flower and seed? I love the spice in chai and pho and anything made with Chinese 5 spice.

Hi Hal - I am hoping that the star anise will produce for me. I've yet to get it to the right size for that. I'll send off a fruit pod to a food lab to have it tested and make sure this is the safe to eat culinary strain. Already the leaves are that wonderful right star anise smell!
