This topic seems very controversial and debatable. Some say the music will help plants grow better and have better blooms while other argue plants are not sensitive to music at all! So what are your opinions on music for plants? I plan to try this experiment out and post the results after a few months.

I wonder if the sounds of *crunching insects are what Carnivorous plants need to grow better Because I'll tell you that's music to my ears I hope to see your experiment, But may I give a suggestion of ; Music: DUBSTEP IT, and different Volume levels . And plus how long are you planning to have the music "ON" SO MANY VARIABLES

I read "The Secret Life of Plants" in the 70's. I thought it was unlikely then and I still do. Maybe the bass gives them a breeze or something. So like Raymond says, try lots of Dubstep.
(I have a cactus that can count to 11)

(I have a cactus that can count to 11) I feel even more inadequate now... It'be be useful to mix genres for a more complete comparison: Schubert (classical) Sex Pistols (classic punk) Slipknot (newer crap) Stan Getz (bossa jazz) Tryu on Sarrs, they start with 's' and we can continue with alliteration ;-) FWIW, my front room plants get a mixed diet - primarily heavy (hard rock, metal, stoner) and jazz but they'll be exposed to everything except conutry and western. They seem happy.

I'm gonna say no on this Reasoning plants cannot hear, but if you need to prove me wrong then put one plant in a place there is no sound then put a plant near a stereo or speaker and guess what as long as the plants get water and light they will grow by sound or not they will both do well. My plants are between my stereo and TV getting sound from both sides and I have a plant in the corner of the room away from all sound...niether is doing better than another sound or not Someone may have a stereo playing when they tend to thier plants but that does not mean they do better maybe the music is on at plant care time but plants cannot hear.

You never know when you start blasting Dubstep, EVERYONE hears it...then everyone calls the cops on you plus plants can sense things like humidity/temp/everything else, so "hearing" might just be their other senses telling them whats happening in the outside world or so I HEAR ...man I'm loney at least your still my friend, capensis; *withers away...

I'll play classical music for my plants since apparently it's the best type of music to play for them.
