Hello! I was going to wait until this was mature before posting photos just in case it died or something, but ooohh wellll. This is Drosera anglica crossed with Drosera 'California Sunset' ( D. filiformis x filiformis var. tracyi). I was hoping to re-create D. "Anfil" as close as possible. There are four plants. One of them is affected with chlorosis which is not pictured, and the other two are much smaller and slower growing so far. The first two pictures are the most accurate for colour. The third one is a little off. Thanks for taking a look!

Thats looking pretty awesome! What form of D. anglica did you use?

Thanks!
I think it was a typical form, but it also could have been D. anglica "La Rippe, Switzerland". Unfortunately the label was lost.

Nice work Devon.
So, in the end, would it ended up being a temperate drosera ?

Thanks Shoggoths. It is indeed a temperate 'dew. The reason I started it so early was because I was worried about the seeds in cold strat. They were in there for a long time and I didn't want them to develop mould like some of my other seeds in cold strat did. Although now that I think of it, I could have just changed the water. Too late now though. Hopefully they don't go into dormancy early, but if they do I could always take cuttings in the spring and grow those until winter comes again.

Propagating this would be an awesome idea. I know someone that collects temperate Drosera

I'll be sure to set some aside for temperate Drosera growers.

Here's a new shot of the other one that I didn't really show. I re-potted them all into LFS. This one seems to have more of a D. anglica look.

Great picture.
Let us know if the LFS change something on the plant condition.

Soooo, quick update: The two plants that germinated kept on forming hibernacula during spring and summer and seem to have died. There is one plant left that just went into dormancy, which is good because it's the right time at least. I don't think this was anything genetic, I think I'm just bad at growing temperate Drosera from seed. I tried growing a bunch of others this spring as well indoors and they did not grow well. There were a few seeds that I sowed directly outside and they grew very well, so from now on I'm only going to sow temperate 'dew seeds outdoors. So much easier!

It was a good attempt and showed promise. Timing temperate plants is tricky indoors. Try it again and send us some seeds in case yours don't work out ;-)

Perhaps I will spread the seeds around next time!
I'm definitely going to try this hybrid again some day.
