If I remember right, E-Bay seller BoerGreen from BC (now it seems they changed name to canadaexotics - same choice of plants) had live spagnum moss in their store; but I ordered only plants from them - my experience was good.

I grow my own it's really very simple. Take a big ziploc bag. Put some of the dead stuff in. Add a fair bit of water so the moss is thoroughly waterlogged then zip it up stick it on a windowsill and in about 6-8 weeks you'll have some nice lushy sphagnum. If you don't want to use a ziploc bag than tupperware containers with clear lids work nicely.

What kind of dried long-fibered sphagnum did you use, golden New Zealand or greenish from Home Depot/Ca Tire? I'm using the last one for "sphag and bag" technique for orchids rooting and CP seeds germination - no sphagnum come alive yet, two months passed...

I've done it with the long fibre new zealand. I planted some D. adelae in the "dead" stuff and several months later, the whole thing has a nice lush growth of live sphagnum on top.

Hawaiian Botanicals definitely sells it. I bought a bag from them last Octobef while on a visit. I haven't used much of it and I have it sitting in a bag near a window where it is slowly growing. I might be interested in trading it for something interesting!
