I purchased ceph seeds when they became available through the ICPS seedbank last autumn. After stratifying them, and not seeing anything, I was starting to loose hope. But my general rule of thumb for CP seeds is to wait until you have lots all hope and then wait some more. I recently checked the pot where I planted the seeds and sure enough two little seedlings have appeared! Not a great germination rate, but it's my first attempt growing them from seed. They are still just cotyledons but I'm sure they are ceph seedlings because someone with much more experience than I posted some picts of their ceph seedlings on the ICPS forum. It's going to be fun to watch this species develop from seed to maturity (assuming I can bring them to maturity). Thanks for looking.

Fantastic!! I really need to join the icsp so I can get ceph seeds!! Be careful to not overwater them in that sphagnum.

Nice works Apoplast, Ceph seeds are soooo slow to grow they will tax your patience. Find a good spot and leave them be. If you find a way to feed them that seems to give result, let me know After a year of growing, my seedlings are now 1,5 cm in diameter but it's so great to see how nature can do things so small. In this case, I was very surprise at the size of the first pitcher. Also, one of my dead seedling sent a flower stalk after only 3 months of growing it must not have been good for it. It dies a few days later. Finally, almost all my ceph seeds has sprouted near a full moon.

Congrats on your success! I got some seeds from the same batch, they got extremeley moldy so I tossed them. Hopefully more will come up soon,

Thanks and merci everyone!
Devon - I'm not too worried about them rotting. They germinated when the water was just 2cm below the soil surface, and I keep my other cephs on the "tray system" all be it in very shallow water. I was a little worried about them being in deep water so the seedlings are now on a capillary mat.
Shogg - Félicitations pour votre succès avec votre cephalotus! It sounds like you've done quite well with your ceph seedlings. If I get worried about mine I might come to you for advice.
Peatmoss - I'm sorry to hear about your seeds. I've been hearing stories a lot like that from many of the people who tried the ICPS seeds from last autumn. I suspect I just got lucky with these two sprouts, but I'll take it.

Very nicely done there Apo!
Getting those to germinate for you is quite impressive!
I've seen them germinated in tc, but your success is inspiring...congrats!

Continue your great work Apoplast Are these leaves or pitchers ? My ceph seedlings usually do pitchers first.

I'll try to keep them going Shogg. They are definitely leaves. Flat and everything. I thought they were going to be pitchers because they emerged from the fuzzy bud, but nope. I hope this doesn't mean I'm keeping them poorly.

I cannot say why but I don't think there's something wrong. It's just a feeling but your seedlings seems in great shape and do have a nice green color.
When my first seed sprouted I was thinking 'do a leave, do a leave' hey hey it's weird. I think it's because I don't feed my plants a lot and in my mind with more leaves, it can rely more on photosynthesis.
By the way, if you ever get to do something, take care of the roots. At this stage they can already be 1-2 inches long.
