Do I get to claim the seeds? I just stumbled on this thread. My mom grows chilis purely as an ornamental. After seeing what everyone's trying, the varieties we grow don't compare at all! We had some Chinese Five Colour, Scotch Bonnet and Hungarian Black. Purely ornamental ones we had Black Pearl and Chilly Chili. Peppers do very well as cuts and I find them more interesting than the Hypericum that every florist seems to love.

A while back i had asked Kevin, aka Wayright (from THP forum), what his thoughts were on Tabasco peppers and he told me that he had been growing them for well over twenty years and that they were among one of his all time favorites that he grew. With that bit of info i let him know that i was going to buy some Tabasco seeds and grow them for next year. Yesterday he sent me a PM alerting me to be on the lookout for some Tabasco seeds, which i assumed most likely meant they were now on their way to me from him. I sincerely thanked him for the in route Tabasco seeds and was once again reminded of what a generous guy Kevin truly is. Today i received a small box from Kevin and i knew as soon as i saw it at our rural post office that there was going to be more than Tabasco seeds in there. Once home, the box was quickly opened and i certainly wasn't at all expecting what i was pulling out of that surprise box of goodness. Not only did i receive the Tabasco seeds that i was just about to source out on my own, but i also received a sample pack of 28 different dried peppers, ranging from various premium Superhots to choice accession numbered varieties. All of this was unsolicited on my part, and though i am very grateful for this gift, i am also humbled and slightly embarrassed with receiving yet another unexpected, yet awesome pepper package from him. In Canada, this is our Thanksgiving weekend, and with this gift of pepper plenty, i have lots to be thankful for. So to you Kevin, i'm not quite sure how to thank you enough, but i do want you to know that these dried peppers will be put to good use, and if i ever have anything growing that you might be interested in, it's yours brother! Thanks again for your very generous gift....you've definitely added to the richness of my Thanksgiving long weekend. dvg

Another very generous plant person. This is one of my favourite parts of the hobby. People sending all sorts of neat plants with very little or no compensation.

Has anyone else got seedlings on the go?
Also, will this thread be moved to the new Gardening section?

The entertainment doesn't really begin until footage of the peppers being sampled is posted, lol. I'm hoping to work my tolerance up to at least Trinidad scorpion by the harvest, and I recently found a local store specializing in hot stuff( www.firehousegourmet.ca/Welcome.html) that may be able to help me with that goal!

So many chilies! This is great! I love chilies!!! I'm going to give the 'Trinidad Scorpion Butch T' a go this summer. I can't wait. I'm excited to hear about everyone's experiences. Thanks for adding this thread!

Dude. I am not sure is you can just "build up to" the Trinidad Scorpion, exactly, I am to a point where I know full well what to expect but I am NEVER going to eat much more than a tiny pinch of a fresh one. Dried they are not as bad, but they still kick your ass nine ways to sunday.
I should get my seeds started any time now, I was actually just picking them over on sunday. I should have a few different Scorpions, bhut jolokia and some douglahs at the very least....

I'm not expecting to eat these things whole, lol, I recently had some Blair's Death Rain chips that took nearly ten minutes for recovery. If I can manage to even just survive brief encounters with the scorpion(not the Butch T), I will consider that an acceptable goal for this year, lol.

Reminds me of when the CTO, Network Admin, & I went to the bar across the street on Merivale in Ottawa. The best their chef could come up with we all rated as 'mild.' The next day we returned, and made him sign a waiver, before allowing him to try our home made hot sauces. It was priceless.
