Is there a range of different media?

I think that's just the container. You need to add your desired media. They are NOT autoclavable, so the media needs to be sterilized before adding it.

Yikes you can't autclave it... that would be a big route of entry for bacteria and fungus ..pouring in hot media and letting it cool in the container.... first it would expand then.... Not to mention the gamma radition might turn ya big and green and mean ;D Usually I let things cool slowly inside the pressure cooker.

I'm missing something here. What's the point of a pre-sterilized container, if you have to add the medium? Seems usless to me. You still have to autoclave the medium in something and it might as well be the culture vessel. Just did 8 bottles of orchid multilplier medium this morning.

Perhaps using sterile water to make our medium, and adding something like PPM would work. We probably wouldn't need to boil the water with a substrate such as C257-CARRAGEENAN (FMC BioPolymer's Gelcarin GP 812®) vice agar.
I'd fill the containers with the media in an LFH to prevent contaminaion.

If you have a LFH, there's not much point using PPM. It is toxic to plants. I find the plants grow better without it. I sent an email to Phytotech to clarify these containers.
Here's the reply from Phytotech:
Dear Lloyd, These containers do not contain medium. Many labs, including our QC lab, find it more efficient to autoclave media in "bulk" and then dispense it aseptically (in the hood) into pre-sterilized containers. This way many liters of media can be autoclaved at one time. Let us know if you have any additional questions. Best regards, Gary

Makes sense not to have to autoclave all that free space. You'd also need a larger LFH, or a method of aseptically letting it flow into the hood.
