Does anyone have any live daphnia or other good feeder organisms for aquatic/partially submerged utricularia available for sale/trade? I was hoping to get some mass-cultivating soon for my expanding utric collection, and would like to find a source before I commit to creating the setup.

There are daphnia cultures and food available on the internet-I've looked at some websites before. I have found daphnia very difficult to keep in culture. They go crazy for a while and then disappear.
I think if you have the right substrate the microorganisms that the utrics eat will just grow naturally. Best Carnivorous Plants recommends dried sedge. I went to my local nursery bought a variety of sedge for $6 and just cut it up and dried it. It seems to work Ok so far.

I introduce springtails to every container possible, but their buoyancy makes them a difficult capture for aquatic traps. If you can recommend other aquatic organisms suitable for utrics that may also be easier to cultivate, I would be interested in those as well!

You could always try infusoria culture, it's easy to get started if you a freshwater aquarium already setup. It might be a touch small for what you want but a good substitute until spring when you can just collect your own daphnia

I don't have one yet, I may get a small betta kit if it will do the job in the short run. Thanks for the tip on infusoria!

You could even setup something with just aquatic snails in it and it will produce infusoria or just visit your local pet store and ask for a bag of non-medicated tank water

Sounds good, thanks for the tips! By, the way, what would you think should be the minimum size for such a setup?

I used a 2.5 gallon tank and if I remember right it took about a month before I could really see anything I could harvest. Just make sure you don't over feed your snails or you will end up at square one having to cycle your tank again.
