Hi guys, My H. minor has opened a beautiful flower. There is a second one on the stalk and the idea is that I should collect pollen from the first one and use it to fertilize the second. Since this is the first for me, any guidance is appreciated and I don't know if I will get any seed, but if I do, will be glad to share. Although, even if it works, I am sure there won't be too many seed to go around. cheers, Varun Pics:

when the flower opens the stigma is alive for a day or two maximum and the pollen is ready to be collected when the anthers looks fuzzy , couple days after stigma dies. You shouls collect the pollen with a tuning fork and a piece of black paper just under the flower. There is not much pollen and will come out of the flower as a dust. Then, put it in foil in the freezer until the next flower opens . With a tooth pick rub the pollen on the stigma a couple times. Act quick ,as soon as the flower opens. I got 3 or 4 seeds on the last attempt but germination was not a success. Hope this helps

Thanks guys. Someone sent me this link too: www.flytrapcare.com/phpBB3/heliamphare-pollen-collection-matt-t7480.htmlThanks for a nice summary Labine. I will keep a watch out for the flower to start shedding its pollen. BTW...to keep u guys in the loop, this is probably the same clone that many CPers in canada may have: From Keehns which I think he said came from Tom, So if anyone has a minor from wistuba and would save some pollen when theirs flowers, perhaps next time we could do a nice cross fertilization.

cross pollen in necessary? if the plants are from the same sellers, the plant will eventually die?
